Overview

Many genes or tags have unnecessary long IDs (fasta identifiers) which may complicate an analysis.

Warning: For a successufull analysis each gene and each EST (tag) has to have an unique identifier.

Using this feature you may
01.. Trim the sequence IDs according to several criteria
02.. Append a text to your sequence IDs.
03.. Append consecutive numbers to your sequence ID, to ensure that each has an unique ID.

Quick guide

Choose 'Batch modify sequence IDs' and press the 'Proceed' button

Choose the way of trimming the sequence IDs. You may either keep the first n-characters, or you may keep the text before the first occurence of a specified string. This may be a backspace or a tabulator or some other text. Your may also choose to keep all of the fasta-ID and simply append a text. You may also choose to append successive numbers, this ensures that each sequence has an unique ID which is a prerequisite for a succesful analysis with PanGEA

Furthermore you have to specifiy the input and output files. Input has to be a multiple-fasta format file. Multiple files may be chosen.
Press the 'Proceed' button.

Investigate the report and press the 'New taks' button.
